Watching Grass Grow

Whoever coined the phrase, "As exciting as watching grass grow" obviously didn't know there were geeks like me who actually get a thrill out of seeing tiny green "hairs" sticking up from my mud pits.

After watching all of my neighbour's lawns start with these tiny, fine grass leaves I know that it doesn't take long for the entire mud patch to catch up. It seems like only a day or two and then the whole dark patch turns a bright green.

This is particularly exciting for me when it's my own lawn. It proves that I might have inherited a little bit of green genes from my grandparents and that all my hard work of watering twice a day and fertilizing has been worth while. And so has all that hard cash spent on dirt. (Ugh. It still breaks my heart to pay for dirt.)

I look forward to basking in delight at my fully green, lush yard.

Even if the dog kills it or the kids tear it up for their newest construction project--it will be green for at least next week.
