"So, how was your vacation?" People often ask us.
"Good, we think."
"What do you mean, 'you think'?"
Well, we did five flights, three countries, eleven cities in 10 days. With a baby. Who had a fever. And got her first tooth. All with the sleep deprivation only parents of three young children could understand, and virtually no sleep in the 6 weeks previous to the trip (like all of Brad's classmates), and then jet lag.
Even though I think we did find time to relax, it really did feel like a whirlwind.
Coming home, however, has been much more hectic.
Two parent-starved, grandma spoiled boys bouncing off the ceilings, a baby who is severely off schedule (and still teething), a house that has been turned upside down and had all of its innards spewn out all over (seriously, I can deal with mess, this is disgusting. I am having to spend hours to search for simple things like our baby grand piano and our bed . . . and still not find them!), a feverish boy, a broken oven, leaking shower, and a social events calendar that has us spending more time in our car and outside our house than catching up on much needed sleep (and cleaning!).
Needless to say, I tried to keep everyone updated on our travels through Europe daily, at least while jet lag was in our favour, but as things got busier over seas and internet connections got scarcer, I had to put it off.
It will be a while before I can get to processing the photos and reflect on what we did (and what a great time we really had).
Same with the birthdays that have passed by, are upcoming, and graduation.
Truly, we feel we are being pulsed in a blender right now, with all of our belongings. But at the same time, it is a good busy. A busy filled with excitement and lots of promise and opportunity, so I can't complain.
In the mean time, if you see our bed anywhere, please send it this way. We could use a few zzzz's!
