Cannes

I feel bad for the residents of Cannes. I am sure that one day it was one of the most charming villages in the French Riviera, but today it seems to suffer from over exposure. With the Cannes Film Festival wrapping up only a day or two before we arrived, it only added to the tired feel.
Then came a cruise ship with all its tourists.

That being said, we did enjoy our time there. Our hotel, le Renoir, was top notch.

The management was suberb. Every one was friendly, the hotel was gorgeous and spacious (even by North American standards), and the breakfast, well, I'll let the pictures describe it. Let's just say, there's a reason we gained 7 lbs on this trip!

Avery loved the food. I couldn't blame her though. We'd often eat more than we needed, just because it was there (and brought to our room, free of charge) and soo very tasty!
During the day, Cannes provided many wonderful boutiques for Avery and I to walk through. This was pretty important since it rained hard those first few mornings there. And, it gave Brad some extra shut-eye without us bothering him.

It didn't take long for us to realize we needed to be banned from the boutiques though. Or at least one for children's clothing, namely girls'. Every store seemed to have cuter and cuter things in it! Avery may never have to wear a single outfit for longer than one hour!

The beaches, while sandy, didn't seem that fabulous. Every hotel has a sliver of beach and has their portion protected by metal gates. It really took away from the spacious beach feeling.

By night, a few of the streets seemed a little scary. But the restaurants were great, even though the waiters were exhausted from having worked three weeks straight (as in no sleep at all) for the film festival.

The yachts were quite a sight at night though! We went for a stroll, picking out our favourites--and there were a lot to choose from.

My favourite though, was when a few cruise ships came in to port and beefed up the tourist population drastically. Brad, former cruise ship activist, suggested that we leave town incase the local shop owners mistakingly thought we were a tacky cruiser!

Imagine that, us one of those annoying cruise ship tourists!
